The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics says the market for addiction specialists is expected to grow 22% through 2031.
This certificate is ideal for practicing clinicians who wish to specialize in addiction and further enhance their clinical practice. The program is also a good fit for primary and oral health professionals seeking advanced training in substance use, and other professionals interested in pursuing specialized knowledge in addiction.
Students can complete the online 18-credit hour program in one year. In addition, completion of the program fulfills the educational requirements for state substance use certification for those interested in pursuing additional credentialing. It’s also ideal for behavioral health clinicians (professional counselors, clinical social workers, clinical psychologists), and provides specialized training in addiction for primary health and other non-behavioral health professionals.
The 100% virtual program is for people who already have a bachelor’s degree in a field relating to addiction studies. This post-degree certificate fulfills the academic and internship requirements for the Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor credential authorized by the state of Michigan and can help prepare for entry-level positions in alcohol and drug treatment agencies.
